As the All-Star Game has come and gone, the baseball season heads into the final stretch of the regular season. However, there is still plenty of storylines for the last two and a half months.

Storyline 1: How Much Will The Sticky Stuff Play A Role?

The first storyline heading into the second half will be how players will continue to adapt to the sticky stuff. The whole baseball world got introduced to the controversy during the first half. However, during the first half of the season, only Hector Santago of the Seattle Mariners was caught using sticky stuff for additional grip.

So, in the final stretch of the season, the temperatures get cooler, with pitchers wanting more grip on the ball. The potential of more suspensions is possible as we get into late September.

Storyline 2: Will the New York Yankees Turn It Around?

The second storyline deals with the New York Yankees, who have been extremely disappointing this season. The Yankees, at the start of the second half, are 8 games behind the first place behind the Boston Redsox.

With the MLB trade deadline in the next couple of weeks, Yankees management will have to decide if they are in a position to sell or buy at the deadline. However, with how their roster is constructed, the Yankees would benefit from buying as selling would put the franchise at a disadvantage for future years. So, the Yankees will have to manage their trade strategy wisely depending on which approach they take.

Storyline 3: The Trade Deadline

One of the biggest days in the baseball season is the trade deadline as teams position themselves for the final sprint to the finish. However, the biggest storyline is always who are the winners and losers of the respective deals.

However, at this trade deadline, the big storyline surrounds the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs are in a position to start a rebuild, and the trade deadline is when the rebuild will start. Such big names like Kris Bryant and Craig Kimbrel are expected to be on the move.

So with the second half of the regular season, it will be interesting to see how the storylines develop in the weeks and months to come prior to the end of the regular season.
