The Arizona Cardinals had a good season cut short simply because of the division they found themselves in. When you look at the team on paper, they are one of the most loaded rosters in the league. But can they replicate that talent on the field? Can they form a season where they finally can have a solid playoff push? Let’s take a look.

Offseason Preparation

When the season ended they had a solid DL with Chandler Jones at the DE spot. Now, it is even better since they have added JJ Watt, even though he is injury prone this late in his career. Add that with Budda Baker coming off a great season looking to improve massively, This defense might be a quiet sleeper that offenses won’t pay much attention to. They also added CB Malcom Butler, WR AJ Green, RB James Conner, and C Rodney Hudson. A lot of talent on paper that needs to be translated on the field.

Season Prediction

The Cardinals have a semi-hard schedule ahead of them this season, facing teams like the Titans, Browns, and Packers. They also are a part of the NFC West so they will have to play 6 total games against the Hawks, Rams, and 49ers, which is never easy. I see this Cardinals team finishing last in the NFC West with an 8-9 record. This is mainly due to the fact that they have hard runs against division rivals and playoff teams.

Team Awards

MVP: Kyler Murray – Kyler Murray will continue to get better this season and will finish with top 10 yards passing, mainly thanks to the OPOY.

OPOY: DeAndre Hopkins – Hopkins is arguably the best WR in the league so its a no-brainer why he is the Offensive Player Of The Year for the Cardinals. He will finish with 1,000 yards and 12+ TDs.

DPOY: Budda Baker – Although the addition of JJ Watt could cause him to not have as good of a case for DPOY but I do think Baker will have a very good season for Arizona, earning him the award.

I don’t think there is anything “quiet” or “sleeper” about their defense. They are armed and dangerous and I think everyone on their schedule has taken notice. I would predict them to finish 3rd in the NFC West, limited only by their offense, which isn’t bad. They are just in the most loaded and competitive division.
