The Portland Trail Blazers have been filling out their new coaching staff. Although, the allegations of the Chauncey Billups situation are still going on. It Is Safe to say, for now, the Blazers will stick by his side with Billups as the head coach.

There has also been some drama about the reports that Damian Lillard wants out of Portland, it’s safe to say that those reports are not true. Although, Lillard does want the roster to become more of a championship contender

The Blazers have reportedly made two additions besides Billups as the lead man.

Assistant Coaches for the Blazers Coaching Staff:

So far there have been reports of two hires by the Portland Trail Blazers for Chauncey’s coaching staff. The first hire is former Washington Wizards Head Coach Scott Brooks.

Brooks is being brought in to be the lead assistant.

Scott Brooks was the head coach of both the Washington Wizards and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He took the Thunder to Conference Finals twice; once in 2010-11 and in 2013-14. In 2011-12 he actually led the Thunder to the NBA Finals. He also led the Washington Wizards as far as the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.

Roy Rogers

No, not the drinks. The former LA Clippers assistant coach. The Portland Trail Blazers have brought in Roy Rogers to be the defensive assistant. Rogers in the past has helped big men with their footwork and may be able to do the same with Jusuf Nurkic. Rogers has helped develop big men such as Ivica Zubac and DeMarcus Cousins.

So far those are the only two that have been announced so far.

Who else could they bring in?

Should the Portland Trail Blazers have a third assistant coach; they could look at bringing in South Carolina’s women’s coach Dawn Staley, or Former Blazers Brandon Roy or Lionel Hollins. There is also one person within the Blazers organization who could become an assistant coach for Billups staff, Ashja Jones. She was recently hired to serve as the Director of Basketball Strategy. Jones played 11 seasons in the WNBA and served as an assistant coach for the Mystics after retiring. So she wouldn’t necessarily be a new hire, more of a promotion. Many other names could be available, and of course, the Blazers could bring in more than three assistants, but only three can be courtside.

Though somewhere the Blazers may need a little bit of offensive assistance to go with that Defense. In the past, the Blazers have had one of the most premier offenses in the NBA, with Lillard and McCollum at the helm that will most likely continue. But the Blazers need a coach to help manage that offense.
