The Rams had a good season despite having Jared Goff at QB, but have they replaced enough pieces and upgraded key positions to get over the playoff hump and make it to the Super Bowl once again? Can Matthew Stafford finally have a successful season and make the playoffs in the leagues most difficult division? Let’s take a look.

Offseason Preparation

The Rams had a couple of significant things happen to them this offseason. The biggest, of course, was the trade with the Lions swapping Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford, in addition to some picks. But the team also lost their Passing Game Coordinator Shane Waldron, who took the Hawks OC job. Gerald Everett also hopped up north to join him in Seattle. They didn’t make a ton of other groundbreaking moves to improve this team, other than signing pass catcher DeSean Jackson. Most of the Rams offseason has been revolving around Matthew Stafford being the new QB in LA.

Season Prediction

The Rams have a pretty difficult beginning of the season followed by a stretch of winnable games for almost the remainder of the season after week 5. They play teams from most divisions through the league including the NFC North, South, and East, as well as the AFC South and North. I think that this Rams team is going to finish 1st in the NFC West with a 13-4 record, only edging out the Hawks by a game, nabbing the third seed in the playoffs. but after that I see them probably finding themselves with a second round exit just like last season.

Team Awards

MVP: Matthew Stafford – I see Stafford making a statement to the league that it was the Lions fault that he sucked all these years and leads this team to the playoffs in his first season.

OPOY: Cam Akers – Cam Akers will be a big factor in helping set up the Rams passing game by running the ball extremely well and finishing close to 1,000 yards on the ground.

DPOY: Aaron Donald – I don’t even need to present a case as to why he is going to win this award. I don’t see Jalen Ramsey having a bigger impact than Donald on the defensive side of the ball.
