After much speculation and silly season rumble, Roush Fenway Racing announced a new addition to their team beginning next year. Brad Keselowski, driver of the #2 Penske Ford, will take over the #6 Ford and assume ownership duties next season and beyond. Ryan Newman, who currently drives the #6 Ford, will step out of the ride at the end of the season.

Keselowski, a champion in 2012 and a consistent contender in the Cup Series for over a decade now, has competed in 758 NASCAR races. In those starts, he has accumulated 75 win, 411 top 10s, and 40 poles with an Xfinity Championship in 2010 and a Cup Series Championship in 2012.

Roush Fenway Racing, a long time staple in all three divisions of NASCAR, is no stranger to championship success with the likes of Mark Martin, Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and Kurt Busch collecting many wins and championships or the organization. However, the team is looking to overcome a bit of a decline, as their last win came in 2017 with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The team is looking to improve upon their stage of mediocre performances and add to three hundred wins and eight championships.

On the ownership side, Keselowski looks to change the culture by assuming the head of the team’s competition committee. He brings 10 years of experience as a team owner when he previously founded and operated his own truck team, “Brad Keselowski Racing”, from 2007 to 2017. His truck program earned 11 wins and 18 poles before suspending operations due to a lack of funding.

The last major driver/owner shift came in 2009 when Tony Stewart moved from Joe Gibbs Racing to drive for the newly formed Stewart-Haas Racing. Stewart drove for 7 years before retiring from driving and assuming more of the business operations.

Potential partners, driver lineups or future details have yet to be announced and are expected to come by season’s end.
