KJ Wright Received A Lot Of Doubt

KJ Wright will no longer be in a Seahawks uniform, as he recently signed a contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. But he sent a very heartfelt message to the fans of Seattle after playing in the Blue and Green for 10 years.

Recently, in an interview with ESPN KJ Wright was asked whether or not he still has the same hunger and fight that he did when he first entered the league.

“C’mon, now,” Wright shot back, with a sly grin. “Listen, listen, this offseason, I’ve been pissed off all offseason. I’ve been very, very angry. I’ve been at peace, but I’ve been mad at the same time, if that makes sense. I had a lot of people doubting me this offseason and I’m still keeping it going. I’m thankful to be here but that burning desire … is on 100 right now.”

Though the Seahawks could have used the veteran presence of KJ Wright, they had decided to go younger and faster. While in Seattle KJ was an ironman, he started 140 of 144 regular-season games for Seattle and was a key cog on the Seahawks’ Super Bowl XLVIII-winning team. In 10 seasons, he had six sacks and 13.5 sacks.

“It was tough leaving,” he said. “That was literally my home. It was tough saying bye to everybody, making those phone calls, but it’s a part of it. Those relationships will forever stay.

“My tenure there was amazing. Had a great time. Talked to Pete [Carroll] before I left and no matter what, you didn’t bring me back but it’s all love. We had a decade together and that’s very rare. So I was appreciative of every moment I had there.”

The Seattle Seahawks paid tribute to the future Hall of Fame Linebacker in an emotional video:

With the Oakland Raiders, KJ will go back to a system that he was used. A very familiar system where Gus Bradley is the Defensive Coordinator.

“It all came full circle … just to come back with Gus, somebody I trust, somebody I know, he’ll take good care of me. So, I’m excited.”

KJ Wright will most definitely continue to be a great linebacker no matter where he goes, though, for Seahawk fans, it may hurt to see him leave.
