Seahawks – The Position No Upgrade Was Made

The Seattle Seahawks are less than a week away from their first game of the season. This year though things will be a little different.

The Russell Wilson trade rumors came and went like a rainstorm in the middle of the night. His eyes appear to be on the prize, as he was willing to restructure his contract for the Seahawks to extend both Jamal Adams and Duane Brown. Though the Seahawks made one change to the offensive line by acquiring Gabe Jackson from the Raiders. They did not upgrade the position that they needed to on the offensive line.

Offensive Line Depth Chart

LT: Duane Brown, Stone Forsythe

LG: Damien Lewis, Kyle Fuller

C: Ethan Pocic, Kyle Fuller

RG: Gabe Jackson, Damien Lewis, Jamarco Jones, Dakoda Shepley

RT: Brandon Shell, Jake Curhan, Cedric Ogbuehi

Center Needed An Upgrade

Although, the offensive line may look strong. The one position on the line that needed an upgrade was the Center/Snapper. Since arriving in Seattle, Ethan Pocic has not been healthy for a full season yet. Last year he missed two games, and the year before he missed 12. The Hawks also have Kyle Fuller, who is both the backup center and left guard. Though it may be tough to transition between the two if asked to play both, he also has not played more than 90 snaps at Center in a single season and has not played any at LG.

How Can The Seahawks Still Improve?

Barring any drastic developments from Ethan Pocic that we have yet to see, the Seahawks may still need a change at the Center position if they want to “Let Russ Cook.”

There is still a Free agent 9x Pro-bowl center available, who flew under the radar in Free Agency. That is Maurkice Pouncey. Although, Mike Pouncey, who played for the Chargers is also still available.

There are quite a few options fro the Seahawks to still improve at the Center position which needs to be done, if they want to make it back to the Super Bowl.
