It has been announced that Trevor Bauer, embattled LA Rodgers pitcher, will not be returning this season. This news was broken by Jeff Passan.
Allegations Against Bauer
Bauer was placed on administrative leave July 2 after a woman came forth with allegations of sexual assault. In late August, the investigation was handed over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The Pasadena, California police department had been investigating up until that point. According to the D.A.’s office, there has not yet been a decision whether or not to charge Bauer.
There is not expected to be a decision from the MLB as to suspension until the conclusion of the criminal investigation.
Passan released more information via the comments of his tweet:
“No new information has surfaced in the Trevor Bauer investigation. Him being out for the rest of the year is just an acknowledgement from the union and league that with MLB’s investigation into him ongoing and the season waning, he was not going to have time to return this year.”Jeff Passan
Last season, Bauer was a member of the Cincinnati Reds. Moreover, Trevor Bauer was the NL winner of the Cy Young Award. The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Bauer to a contract making him one of the highest paid players in the major leagues. Consequently, that contract is $102 million over three years.
In addition, for the entirety of Bauer’s leave, he has been leave.
