The Milwaukee Brewers have made MLB history with the ninth no-hitter of the season as they beat the Cleveland Indians. This was an extremely unique instance because it was a combined no-hitter. It featured the Cy Young Candidate Corbin Burnes who went eight innings and was finished off by Josh Hader.

Big Time Pitching

With the remarkable season Corbin Burnes has had it seems only right he would have a day like this. He is one of the front runners for the NL Cy Young. Burnes has dominated game after game with incredibly high strikeout numbers and low walk numbers. He is putting up video game numbers with his 2.25 ERA, 210 strikeouts and only 29 walks. This performance has definitely inflated his Cy Young stock.

Burnes plowed through this Indians lineup as he struck out 14 batters through his eight innings. He only allowed one walk to the Indians leadoff man Myles Straw. The 115 pitch count forced Craig Counsell to pull Burnes for All-Star closer Josh Hader. He made quick work of the eight, nine and one hitters in the lineup. He struck out his first man, got a great catch in foul ground by first baseman Jace Peterson for the second out and finished it off with a dominant four pitch strikeout of Straw.

Major History

This is one of the most notable no-hitters in history. This is because it broke the record for most no-hitters in an MLB season with nine.

For the Brewers, this is their second no-hitter in franchise history. The only other time it was done was by Juan Nieves on April 15, 1987. It was 24 years in the making and well worth the wait.

It has become a season to forget for the Cleveland Indians as this is the fourth time they have been no-nit this season. They were first no-hit by the Chicago White Sox on April 14th, Cincinnati Reds on May 7th and oddly enough, in a seven inning game against the Tampa Bay Rays on June 7th.

This Brewers team has put together one of their best in franchise history and it just makes it that much more special that they can contribute to this historic season of no-hitters. The season is long form over for this team meaning that Burnes still has chances to top his best performance of his career.
