Top Rookies By Position
This article provides my rankings of the top rookies for the fantasy football season.
1. Mac Jones
Mac Jones is my number one breakout rookie of the 2021 season next to Kyle Pitts. Jones was the 15th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He recently won the starting job over Cam Newton in New England. With the newly acquired free agents the Patriots signed, the team is revamped. Jones has been a quick learner in training camp. He impressed with a solid preseason, throwing for 388 yards and zero interceptions. I see Mac Jones possibly winning rookie of the year with the coaching staff he has.
2. Trevor Lawrence
Lawerence was the 1st overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He is obviously a very talented quarterback since he was taken 1st overall. Lawerence performed fairly well in the preseason. The only reason i have him rated lower than Jones, is the team he plays for. Jaguars are young, with a below average o-line and a new coach. With that aside, Trevor should do well this year.
3. Zach Wilson
Zach Wilson was the 2nd overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. At the beginning of training camp he struggled, but settled in throughout preseason. He has shown he is comfortable throwing to Corey Davis and has another weapon in Elijah Moore.
1. Najee Harris
Harris has been the lead back in Pittsburgh ever since being drafted so high and the departure of James Connor. He should have heavy workload this season to take some pressure off of Big Ben.
2. Michael Carter
Carter shined in the Preseason. He is a big part of the offense with his only real competition at running back being Tevin Coleman.
3. Trey Sermon
Sermon has real opportunity to get carries on the run heavy 49ers offense. The only running back in front of him is Raheem Mostert. To even the load, Sermon should get a good amount of carries. With Mostert’s injury history, Sermon might even end up the lead back sometime during the season.
1. Devonta Smith
Smith, the former Heisman Winner, is a great talent at wide receiver. He should have a fair share of targets with the only real competition being Ertz and Godert. Smith might even be wide receiver #1 on the Eagles.
2. Jaylen Waddle
Waddle is a great talent and great addition to the Dolphins. I see Waddle putting up great numbers but not consistent numbers. With names like Gaskin, Parker, Fuller, and Gesicki, there are a lot of targets to be shared.
3. Jamar Chase
Jamar Chase is a great talent out of LSU. He is also on a crowded team, that has a lot of good receivers. He will have to share targets with Higgins, Boyd, and Mixon. Chase has shown some rust in preseason with a few drops, but should get back to form as the season goes on.
1. Kyle Pitts
Kyle Pitts is arguably one of the best talents at TE out of the draft in a long time. He is on a team that is pass heavy and absent of Julio Jones. Pitts should be the star of the Falcons alongside Calvin Ridley.
2. Pat Freiermuth
Feiermuth shined in training camp and the Preseason. He has to share targets with a lot of different steelers such as Claypool, JuJu, Diontae Johnson, and Najee Harris. But he is right alongside Ebron for the number one tight end on the team.
1. Evan McPherson
McPherson won the job over Seibert in Cincinnati after being drafted in the 5th round. He was a perfect 5/5 in the preseason on all his field goals. His best was a 57 yard make in his final preseason game.
