Raheem Mostert is out for the 2021 NFL season, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. After playing only two snaps in the 49ers season opener on Sunday, Raheem Mostert has announced that he has elected to have season ending knee surgery. This is certainly disappointing to the 9er faithful who saw Mostert break out in the 2019 campaign, only to have his season marred by injury in the 2020 campaign.
Yesterday, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Mostert would miss up to eight weeks with “chipped cartilage” in his injured knee. Shanahan added that the injury would require arthroscopic surgery, which would land the running back on the IR. Turns out, it’s going to require season ending surgery.
Mostert posted this to his twitter today:
This is breaking news.
More to come.
