Texas A&M at Arkansas will be a huge game for both teams and could help them make the push to the College Football Playoffs. Texas A&M is ranked #7 and Arkansas is ranked #16 and they are both going into this week 3 and 0 which should make for a great game. This could be a huge upset game this week.

Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas is coming into this game after three great weeks of football. Rice was their first opponent of the season and they won 38 to 17. It was not the best passing game for Arkansas, but it was a great rushing game. They racked up 245 rushing yards of their 373 total yards. Their defense only allowed 81 rushing yards, and that did not stop only in week one. Week one showed that they are a good team but weeks two and three should everyone why.

During week 2, they faced Texas and showed why they are a dominant team by winning 40 to 21. Again their rushing offense was great. They rushed for 333 yards of their 471 total yards. This game is that everyone saw what Arkansas is capable of. Week 3 looked a little different for Arkansas because they finally passed the ball. They still had 269 rushing yards, but this time they had 364 passing yards. Their defense was still fantastic and held Georgia Southern to only 237 total yards and won 45 to 10. Arkansas is 9th in the country for rushing yards and has 8 rushing touchdowns.

This week against Texas A&M will be a little more challenging. Arkansas will be facing the best team they have played all year, but luckily it is not at either of their home stadiums. Their game plan this week should not change from any of the other weeks. If their defense plays and running game continue to play at the level they are, then there is no stopping Arkansas. Arkansas needs to get past Texas A&M if they want to be considered for the Playoffs.

Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M did not play the greatest of competition during the first three weeks. They played Kent State and were able to destroy them, 41 to 10. Their offense had 595 total yards, but they did have five turnovers, and 4 of them were interceptions. Their defense allowed 226 rushing yards and held Kent State to only 110 passing yards. Texas A&M’s turnovers could have made for a whole different game but luckily it did not.

During week 2, they faced Colorado and only won 10 to 7. It was a bad game all around, and Texas A&M could not find their rhythm the whole game. They had only 288 total yards and 97 rushing yards. Texas A&M did play a lot better in week three when facing New Mexico. They won that game 34 to 0, and the offense looked like they found their rhythm. They had 429 total yards and 275 passing yards, but not only did their offense play well, but their defense did as while. The defense only allowed 122 total yards, and 33 of that was passing.

Texas A&M has to ride the rhythm from week three into Arkansas to have a chance to score. They need their run defense to step up and stop Arkansas. They also need their offense to be able to not turn it over because Arkansas will capitalize on those turnovers. If Texas A&M’s defense shows up and holds Arkansas to low numbers then Texas A&M has a huge chance at winning.

Final Thoughts

Texas A&M is a good team but has not shown the country that they are good enough for the College Football Playoffs. They have played low-quality teams and almost lost to them. Arkansas on the other hand has played better teams and has dominated every game. Arkansas needs this win to have a chance at breaking into the top 10 this week.

My prediction: Arkansas wins 35 to 17.
