ACC Troubles

The ACC has been a dominant conference the last couple of years. But it finally seems that they are slow going downhill. Teams that have been at the top for several years are finally dropping out of the picture. It does not seem good for the conference. The top team may be the only chance that the ACC has to be in the College Football Playoffs.

Downfall Of The ACC

Clemson has been the only team for the ACC that has been in the College Football Playoffs since it has started. They have won in 2016 and 2018, and they were runner-ups in 2015 and 2019. It looks like this year we will not be seeing Clemson in the College Football Playoffs and even in the top 25. Clemson has won only two games this year and lost two games. The wins were against teams everyone that they would beat. One of the losses was against Georgia, one of the best teams in the nation, and the other was North Carolina State.

Florida State was also the last team to have won the national championship. It was before the switch to the College Football Playoff format. They came into this season with high hopes and almost came back to be number 9 ranked Notre Dame week one. It all went downhill when they lost the next three games and now are 0 and 4. Being 0 and 4 makes Florida State last in their Conference and shows that they will not be in the top 25.

Wake Forest’s amazing Start

Wake Forest is having a great season so far. They are 4 and 0 and have won every game by 20 points or more. Wake Forest finally broke into the top 25 by being ranked 24th this week. Their starting quarterback, Sam Hartman, has 961 passing yards so far and also nine touchdowns with only one interception. Their running back, Christian Beal-Smith, has also been playing amazingly. He has 276 rushing yards and four touchdowns in only 55 attempts. Wake Forest is having an amazing start but will need to continue to have success.

The ACC is having trouble right now and it does not seem like it will change anytime soon. Clemson has fallen off the radar for everyone after the two losses. Wake Forest was unranked until after winning the four-game so they will not have a huge chance to make the College Football Playoffs.
