Fantasy Football Week 5: Quaterbacks
Carolina Panthers QB, Sam Darnold vs PHI
Cincinnati Bengals QB, Joe Burrow vs GB
Philadelphia Eagles QB, Jalen Hurts @ CAR
San Francisco 49ers QB, Trey Lance @ ARI
Las Vegas Raiders QB, Derek Carr vs CHI
Green Bay Packers QB, Aaron Rodgers @ CIN
I know, since week 1 he has “resembled” his normal self. For fantasy football, yes. When watching each snap, sometimes. Do you know who has been on their game? The front line of Cinncinatti. With the Packers left tackle, David Bakhtiari still out, I feel like the Bengals’ D-line could have more of an impact than most think. They have allowed, on average, 17.1 points per game to QBs so far this season. Yes, the best QB they have faced so far would have to be Kirk Cousins. However, the non-stop pressure they have been exerting on O-lines is relentless. I am not here to give the easy picks that fall in line with the cookie-cutter opinions. Rodgers will be on the bench in a league of my own. Thinking he will be in the 14-16 QB range this week. If you are starting Derek Carr then ignore everything I just said. If you have Jalen Hurts please take a moment to meditate on your choice. When done meditating following everything I have said and bench A-Rodge (unless in a super-flex).
Fantasy Football Week 5: Running Backs
Atlanta Falcons RB/WR, Cordarelle Patterson vs NYJ
Buffalo Bills RB, Zack Moss @ KC
Chicago Bears RB, Damien Williams @ LV
The 6-year UDFA, now journeyman, out of Oklahoma is making his way back on our rosters. After falling off everyone’s fantasy radar, due to taking the COVID option in 2020 to not play, he is primed to show off his inconsistent athleticism again. As the big waiver wire add of the week it is the best week to start him. With David Montgomery out for at least 4 weeks, Williams jumps into a floundering offense going up against a defense with a soft side for the RBs. I’m not concerned with the quad injury he took on Sunday as it has been confirmed as a bruise. If Williams can at least get 75% of what the raiders are normally giving up, 24.4 ppg, he will be well worth the play.
Atlanta Falcons RB, Mike Davis vs NYJ
Denver Broncos RBs, Melvin Gordon III and Javonte Williams @ PIT
Las Vegas Raider RB, Josh Jacobs vs CHI
Fantasy Football Week 5: Wide Receivers
Baltimore Ravens WR, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown vs IND
New York Jets WR, Jamison Crowder @ ATL
L.A. Rams WR, Robert Woods @ SEA
New York Giants WR, Kenny Golladay @ DAL
Pittsburgh Steelers WR, JuJu Smith-Schuster vs DEN
Chicago Bears WR, Allen Robinson @ LV
Robinson has yet to present a flex spot worthy finish. The concerns I have here is…well the entire team. The connection with rookie QB Justin Fields, who is the confirmed starter this week, is severely lacking. That will develop since Allen Robinson is an elite talent at WR. In dynasty leagues, I would try to buy low on him now. In the short term, the fact that Darnell Mooney is out snapping Robinson (89% vs 82%) and is slightly targeted more (26% vs 24%) is an enigma within that Bears offense. Mooney is talented as well but by no means is he a WR1 type. With Montgomery out who knows what will happen. The infinite mind of Matt Nagy should prove to demonstrate its genius. While thats the case, I’d rather maintain some sanity and let Allen prove his usage again before trotting him out on my roster.
Fantasy Football Week 5: Tight Ends
Buffalo Bills TE, Dawson Knox @ KC
Dallas Cowboys TE, Dalton Schultz
In Dallas, Schultz has been overshadowed by the “potential” of fellow TE Blake Jarwin. This potential is real for Jarwin BUT, Schultz is holding his own and then some. He has proven to be an extremely dependant weapon for Dak Prescott. Since Schultz was thrust into the starting role with Jarwin’s awful season-ending injury in 2020, he has only gotten better. This year he is currently the TE4. The past two weeks have vaulted him there as in week 3 he was TE1 and week 4 TE6. He is owning the snap count with 72% while Blake Jarwin is clocking 54%. He is also getting 64% of the TE targets. To add the final touch, this week’s opponent is in the bottom 5 defensively against tight ends allowing 13.8 points on average. Schultz is a Top 6 TE potentially this week and could be looked at as a legit starter for the rest of the season.
L.A. Rams TE, Tyler Higbee @ SEA
