Will Ferrell is better known as a comedian and an actor. But let’s take a second to look back on the marvelous baseball career of one of America’s favorite celebrities.

A lot of people may not know that Will Ferrell actually played baseball in the MLB for a day. Now it was for charity and it was in a Spring Training game. But he still played, and it was one of the greatest things a fan can watch.

What Teams Did He Play For?

Will Ferrell played for a total of 10 teams in the 2015 Spring Training, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, and the San Diego Padres. He also played for the Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels, Arizona Diamondbacks, Cincinnati Reds, and the Chicago White Sox.

He played a total of ten positions on the field and was also a third-base coach. The show was called Ferrell Takes The Field. If you are looking to watch the entire movie, it requires an HBO Max Subscription. But you can find highlights right here:

Or you can check out the official trailer here:

At the end of the day, Ferrell had made it clear that he is not a professional baseball player. He made a retirement speech, infusing his quintessential humor. “Was I the best player on the field today?” Ferrell asks. “Maybe.” Ferrell carried his baseball player identity hilariously throughout the speech. “There’s no doubt I turned some heads today,” Ferrell says. “I brought passion to the field, dedication, ability, and a lot of ignorance. There’s life in this 47-year-old arm. They say there’s nothing more American than grabbing a hot dog and heading to the ballpark to watch nine guys from the Dominican Republic make magic on the field. But you know what? Today I learned that they are wrong. Make that eight Dominicans and one guy from Irvine, California… On a serious and real note, thank you all. What a day. Thank you Major League Baseball. To my family, and especially to Craig Pollard.”

Whether you find it to be a comedic act or an act of kindness, in the 2015 Spring Training Will Ferrell did a positive thing for a good cause.
