Welcome to the Sunday edition of CSM’s NHL Rumors. In this edition, we will discuss the Dylan Strome trade rumors, Vitali Kravtsov trade request, and the Eichel to Ducks possibilities.

Chicago Blackhawks – Dylan Strome

Rumor: Per Pierre LeBrun. It looks like Dylan Strome, the former third overall selection in 2015 by the Arizona Coyotes is being shopped by the Chicago Blackhawks. Due to a logjam at center-ice with Kirby Dach, Jonathan Toews, and newly acquired Tyler Johnson, Strome is the odd man out.

Analysis: According to Pierre LeBrun on TSN’s latest Insider Trader, “There are some teams kicking tires on him and there’s a chance he moves in the next week or two.”

Strome had a good season in 2018-19 collecting 17 goals and 34 assists in 58 games. He followed that up with a rather dismal 2019-20 campaign where he only managed 12 goals and 26 assists in 58 games. This past season was one he probably wants to forget as he only had nine goals and eight assists in 40 games.

It seems apparent that his game is not what it should be for a former overall third selection. Therefore, it may be sooner rather than later that the Blackhawks find a new home for him. Stay tuned for news on that right here.

New York Rangers – Vitali Kravtsov

Rumor: Per Elliotte Friedman. Vitali Kravtsov was not happy that he didn’t make the final roster of the New York Rangers. He refused to report to the AHL, and now the Rangers have given him permission to seek a new team. So, where will he end up?

Analysis: In the 2020-21 season, the 21 year-old gathered four points in 20 contests. He failed to distinguish himself and a lower-body injury also hampered his ability to make the team. Kravtsov feels very strongly that he belongs at the NHL level. He is very confident… maybe too confident, to accept this demotion. A trade should not be hard to accomplish, but the Rangers won’t just give him away.

With Chris Kreider or Alexis Lafrenière being selected to replace Pavel Buchnevich as the top-line right wing, and the acquisition of Sammy Blais, it appears Kravtsov wants a fresh start. Another player forced to find a new home. It happens.

Anaheim Ducks – Going After Jack Eichel

Rumor: Per Mark Easson – It appears that the Anaheim Ducks make the most sense to acquire star forward Jack Eichel. Eichel needs to find a team willing to do the neck surgery he wants done. The Ducks seem to have the best chance at landing him. They have $12.1 million worth of cap space according to

Analysis: They also may be the leading candidate to grab Eichel since they can provide some prospects that the Buffalo Sabres insist be part of any deal. The Ducks seem to be the most patient team to wait while Eichel mends from the surgery, which could take four months.

The Ducks aren’t exactly competing for a Stanley Cup this season, so building for the future once Eichel returns seems fine with them.

One team who may be out of the Eichel sweepstakes is the New York Rangers. They just awarded Mika Zibanejad an eight-year $68 million deal. That just about eliminates them from trying to add Eichel to their roster, with just $7.4 million of cap space left.

Will Jack Eichel move to the west coast? Perhaps we’ll know the answer to that soon. Just follow CSM’s NHL Rumors to stay informed.
