PLL Improvement Series: Chrome Lacrosse Club

We are officially beginning our first ever PLL improvement series, starting with Chrome Lacrosse Club. Chrome had a rough go dealing with injuries and poor play. They finished dead last with a 2-7 record and -23 score differential. It’s a roster with a lot of work to do and a lot of holes.

To be fair, injured players will hopefully be back in summer 2022 and give them a spark. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. The one bright spot is Connor Farrell at the faceoff spot. Farrell has done a good job, but he alone can’t win Chrome games.

Pieces In Place

It’s not all bad for Chrome. Jordan Wolf was injured but is very good when he’s healthy. At the attack position, Jackson Morrill and Colin Heacock showed flashes of being able to produce. Both had 16 goals during the season with Heacock also adding on a couple of two point shots. Jordan MacIntosh had the most production at midfield with 16 goals and he also led the group in assists with three. There needs to be more production from everyone else in order for them to be successful as a team. The same can be said for the attack core. Joel White retired leaving a huge hole at LSM (long stick midfielder).

John Galloway retired leaving a need at goalie. However, the defensemen didn’t play well enough as a unit, so until that gets fixed, it doesn’t matter who is in net. Kyle Bernlohr, Jack Concannon, and JD Colarusso are all names to monitor as trade targets to instantly improve. Bernlohr got benched by the Whipsnakes, and Atlas had a goalie controversy right now. Depending on who is named the starter moving forward, Concannon or Colarusso could get moved. The draft is also always a possibility.

Overall, the seat is getting hot for head coach Tim Soudan and he’ll need to work some trades or really hit in the draft to bounce back. Atlas did it, so it’s not impossible. It still remains to be seen if Matt Gaudet will be part of this team moving forward after being suspended. Chrome Lacrosse Club could use him because of his dynamic scoring ability and the energy he brings, but we’ll see what happens.
