Bengals Vs. Ravens Week 7 Recap

By: Felix Addison

Final Score: Cincinnati Bengals 41 – Baltimore Ravens 17

TOO MANY WEAPONS

The Bengals dominated the Ravens in the second half of the football game scoring four unanswered touchdowns in the second half. Joe Burrow was excellent as he threw for  416 yards on 23 of 38 completions resulting in an impressive 113.5 passer rating. Ja’Marr Chase came alive before the end of the first half and his momentum carried decisively in the second half. The rookie wide receiver extended his bid for rookie of the year as he ran all over the Ravens’ defense. The rookie receiver ended the game with 201 yards and one touchdown. Poor tackling from Anthony Averett and Marlon Humphrey allowed the Bengals receivers to extend plays into the endzone.

Neither the Bengals nor Ravens seemed to run the ball effectively in the first half. Joe Mixon was held in check for most of the game but earned a critical first down in the fourth quarter. A 46 yard run by Samaje Perine ended all hopes for the Ravens fans as they could be seen leaving M& Bank stadium. The Ravens running backs were ineffective and unable to find running lanes throughout the entire game. Lamar Jackson led the team in rushing once again with 88 yards on 12 carries.

TOO MUCH PRESSURE

Sam Hubbard and the Bengals’ front seven gave the Ravens’ offensive line all they could handle. Lamar Jackson delivered one of his worst performances of the season, completing 15 of his 31 throws for 257 yards. The offense seemed to find success at the start of the second quarter with a quick touchdown to Marquise Brown. The pressure from the Bengals proved too much for the Ravens as they misconnected on throws time and time again. The Ravens’ offensive line gave up 6 sacks as the Bengals rolled to victory well over before the clock ran out.

THE RESULT

The Cincinnati Bengals are now 5-2 atop the AFC North heading into a week 8 matchup against the New York Jets. The Baltimore Ravens head into their bye week 5-2 hoping to get healthy for the second half of the season. They will both look ahead to their next matchup in week 15 as both teams are eager to represent the AFC North in the playoffs.
