The Fall Classic is finally upon us, to cap off another great season of Major League Baseball. The Atlanta Braves will travel to Minute Maid Park, to play the Houston Astros in the World Series. Game 1 is slated for 7:09 PM CT, Tuesday Night, and will be nationally televised on FOX.

The Pitching Matchup

Charlie Morton will get the nod from the Braves. Morton has played decently well throughout the 2021 postseason, throwing for a combined 3.73 ERA between the NLDS against the Brewers, and the NLCS against the Dodgers. Morton has previously won a World Series with Houston in 2017, and will seek revenge against his former club.

The Astros will place lefty Framber Valdez on the mound to start Game 1. Valdez has also been playing on a solid level, only posting 7 runs in his 3 games played, which all of them he’s started.

The Lineups

Here is the lineup card for the Atlanta Braves

  1. Jorge Soler DH
  2. Freddie Freeman 1B
  3. Ozzie Albies 2B
  4. Austin Riley 3B
  5. Eddie Rosario LF
  6. Adam Duvall CF
  7. Travis d’Arnaud C
  8. Joc Pederson RF
  9. Dansby Swanson SS

The Braves easily have one of the most deep lineups in the league, with power, speed, and defensive abilities at each and every position. Some of the hot players on the Braves who could be a difference maker in Game 1 are, Freddie Freeman and Austin Riley. Who have both had phenomenal postseason success so far this year.

Here is the lineup card for the Houston Astros

  1. Jose Altuve 2B
  2. Micheal Brantley LF
  3. Alex Bregman 3B
  4. Yordan Alvarez DH
  5. Carlos Correa SS
  6. Kyle Tucker RF
  7. Yuli Gurriel 1B
  8. Chas McCormick CF
  9. Martin Maldonado C

The Astros have one of the most unique and odd lineups we have seen so far. Dusty Baker has decided to alternate Righties and Lefties, through batters 1-7 in their lineup. This oddity might actually help the ‘Stros late game, if the Braves need to make a specific pitching change, based off the order of the Houston lineup.

Outlook & Prediction

This game will only be a snippet of what this series can truly turn out to be. Both of these teams hold a lot of power all over the field, and will use it anywhere they can.

Game 1 will go down to wire, but Houston will come out on top in nail-biter, 5-4.
