The Atlanta Braves have defeated the Houston Astros 7-0, to claim the franchise’s 4th World Series Title.

This team has gone through so much adversity in just the span of a year. An example being, one of the leagues brightest stars Ronald Acuna Jr, tearing his ACL over the summer. Or the Braves being just below .500 and out of the playoff picture at mid-season. Atlanta was also very active at the trade deadline and acquired a whole new starting outfield, who all panned out to be postseason and World Series heroes.

Game Summary

The Braves got on the board first, from an absolute 3- run MOONSHOT from Jorge Soler. It cleared the Minute Maid train in deep left, and measured out to be a 446-foot blast. The big 3rd inning also forced the Astros to make an early pitching change. Luis Garcia tallied 2.2 innings pitched, and notching 2 K’s, while allowing 2 hits and a walk on only 42 pitches.

Atlanta also took the Astros’ bullpen for ride, by adding three more runs from a Dansby Swanson 2-run homer, and a Freddie Freeman RBI double to make it 6-0 Atlanta. Freeman then later added another insurance run to the score, by adding a solo home run of his own.

Max Fried would then get taken out and get replaced by Tyler Matzek in the bottom of the 7th. Fried ended his very consistent night with 6 innings pitched, and 6 strikeouts, while allowing 4 hits and no walks. Matzek would come in to finish up the 7th and the 8th inning.

The Braves called upon Will Smith to close out the 9th Inning, and finish off Game 6 to secure the World Series for Atlanta. And with a 0-2 count, and 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth. Yuli Gurriel hit a chopper to short, which was scooped up by Dansby Swanson, and caught by first baseman Freddie Freeman. To secure the final out, and secure the World Series for Atlanta.

Why is this Championship so meaningful for the City of Atlanta?

This Championship is more than just for the Braves, it’s for the whole city of Atlanta, and the state of Georgia. This is just the beginning of a new sports dynasty and empire in Atlanta. With a mix of star veteran players like Freddie Freeman and Travis d’Arnaud, continuing to mentor the young star core of this team. And a great coaching staff led by Brian Snitker, with outstanding depth at every single position. This will only be the beginning of the Braves success, and there will be many more good things to come for the city of Atlanta.
