The Jack Eichel saga in Buffalo is finally over.
The former captain of the Buffalo Sabres is headed to the Vegas Golden Knights, along with a 2023 3rd round pick. Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs of Vegas are taking a flight to Buffalo in return, along with a 1st round pick in 2022 and a 3rd round pick in 2023.
Eichel’s Discontent In Buffalo
The major bone of contention between Eichel and the Sabres has been concerning the surgery that is necessary to repair the herniated disc in his neck. Buffalo instead on Eichel undergoing fusion surgery. Instead, Eichel wishes to have the less-limiting disc replacement surgery. Because “no NHL player had ever undergone the replacement procedure before.”
Eichel had continued to refuse the fusion surgery. This resulted in him failing his physical before the start of the season. He was stripped of being the team captain in Buffalo.
The disc replacement procedure is expected to be completed “very soon, with the timeline for recovery expected to see him back on the ice in four months.”
From The Desert To The Tundra
Alex Tuch of the Golden Knights underwent shoulder surgery following Vegas’ playoff run last July. At the time, it was reported that he would be out for six months. Last season, Tuch was a great asset to the Golden Knights, racking up 33 points on 18 goals in 55 games.
Peyton Krebs was selected 17th overall by Vegas in the 2019 NHL Draft. He is 20 years old, and has yet to have a big impact on the ice.
