PLL Improvement Series: Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club

Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club is not the same team that dominated the first two summers of the PLL. The 2020-2021 season was full of struggle and adversity that they had seldom felt before. The core group they have is still one of the best in the league. Led by Matt Rambo and Zed Williams, this will not be the last time we will talk about the Whips. Injuries plagued them which affected seeding for the playoffs, but during the postseason run they looked like themselves. Whipsnakes continued beating on arch rival Redwoods defeating them for the third straight postseason in heartbreaking fashion. However, Chaos took control in the championship and Whipsnakes just ran out of steam.

The Big Question

Is Kyle Bernlohr still the answer in net? He was not down the stretch and was benched for the playoffs. Brian Phipps roamed the cage for the two time champions and had his ups and downs. Both goalies are on the older side. One would imagine Bernlohr was not and still is not happy about being benched. As mentioned as prior articles, if both sides feel they are in need of a change of scenery, Chrome could be a likely destination.

Chrome had to say goodbye to John Galloway who retired after Chrome got eliminated from playoff contention. Maybe it was just a fluke year that every team and athlete will have once in a while. But nonetheless, goalie is a question mark right now and Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club needs to get that sorted out. Does going to a rookie draft pick make sense for this team? Probably not at this time because of the success rate of the team. Head coach Jim Stagnitta has some decisions to make.
