The Lakers took the win Wednesday nights against the Miami Heat in overtime. With the Staples Center at maximum capacity, the two teams put on a show for fans. Jimmy Butler on the Heat was sidelined early in the game due to a sprained ankle, and LeBron James was sidelined due to a strained muscle. Even though both teams didn’t have their star players, they came to ball.
ESPN reported Russell Westbrook earned himself a triple-double with 25 points, 14 assists, and 12 rebounds. Anthony Davis put up 24 points and 13 rebounds. Malik Monk scored 27 points, Kyle Lowry scored 18 points and 11 assists, and Adebayo scored 28 points but managed to foul out during the game. Tyler Herro scored an impressive 27 points but dropped the ball in the last seconds of overtime, missing 2 3 point shots. The final score was 117-120.
Both teams performed well, despite missing key players. It was a good indication of what we can expect further on in the season from the Heat and the Lakers. Games that go into OT are always fun and intense to watch. Stay tuned for an update on Jimmy Butler and LeBron James’ injuries.
