Cam Newton’s Week 11 Fantasy Outlook

Cam Newton is back on the fantasy radar again. Newton made his first appearance Sunday two days after signing with his former team. When he made his rookie debut in 2011, Newton played the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium. In that game, he became the first rookie to pass for over 400 yards. On Sunday, Newton was in the same arena with the same team, looking to revitalize the player he once was.

Newton’s First Game Back

Newton surely didn’t disappoint as his first two touches of the game resulted in touchdowns. The first one was very familiar as Newton used his quick legs to punch it in. On the second drive, he found an open Robby Anderson to log his first passing touchdown of the season. In a close race with the Saints, many question if Newton is what the organization needs to clinch the playoffs. For what we saw last Sunday, the sky is the limit for Newton.

Mouthwatering Matchup

For fantasy purposes, this week is intriguing if you are someone who picked Newton off the waiver. He gets to face a Washington Football team who allows the most points to quarterbacks this season. To make things even juicier for Newton, the Football Team just lost star defensive ends Chase Young and Montez Sweat.

Oh, and let’s not forget the biggest reason why Newton might finish as the top scoring quarterback in week 11. He’s facing off with former coach Ron Rivera. There has to be a mutual friendship there, but Newton made it clear its going to be all business.

Fast forward to Sunday, Bank of America Stadium will be packed with fans eagerly waiting Newton’s arrival. Having multiple weapons at his disposal, Newton should be able to capitalize early and often. The Carolina defense should give him plenty of opportunities to make plays and wow the crowd.

It’s a weird feeling to start Newton this week over other quarterbacks like Derek Carr and Kyler Murray. But I mean, let’s face it, who doesn’t love the comeback kid trying to make a name for himself again. In a dream matchup at home, Newton should have no issue cementing himself as a top quarterback in fantasy.
