If Georgia does so, they will become the fourth team in school history to finish with an undefeated regular-season record. Georgia is coming off of a win against Charleston Southern. Georgia Tech is coming off of a big loss to Notre Dame.
The Yellow Jackets may not be ranked or have the best record, but they will be ready to play the Bulldogs. Georgia Tech will also be honoring 24 players for Senior Day.

Look for a high emotion game. Don’t look at the score or the stats because this game will be a hard-fought battle. This game was skipped over in 2020 due to the pandemic and schedule set up. This year the game will be even more emotional for both teams. Georgia’s offense battling against Georgia Tech’s defense, and Georgia Tech’s offense going up against the Bulldogs defense will be something to watch. Georgia scores 40.3 points a game, and Georgia Tech scores 26.2 points a game. This season Georgia has allowed seven sacks, whereas Georgia Tech has allowed 30 sacks. Defensively, Georgia has 38 sacks.
Georgia’s defense allows 7.5 points a game. Georgia Tech’s defense allows 32.5 points a game. The Bulldogs have given up 235 yards a game, whereas Georgia Tech has given up 454 yards.

Georgia offensive players to watch are Zamir White and James Cook. James Cook has 82 attempts for 544 yards and seven touchdowns. Zamir White has 122 attempts for 657 yards and ten touchdowns.
Brock Bowers is another guy to watch. He has 34 receptions for 552 yards and eight touchdowns.
Look for great plays by the Bulldogs offensive unit, as well as the defensive unit. So many talented guys on all sides of the football. Georgia Tech has talent to keep an eye on, too, on both sides of the football.
For Georgia Tech, there’s Jahmyr Gibbs. Look for him to make plays on the offense. He averages 163.8 yards a game.
The winner of this game receives the Governor’s Cup Trophy.
Georgia and Georgia Tech have a historic rivalry. Georgia has the series lead 68-39-5. During WWII, two of the wins by Georgia Tech didn’t get counted (1943, 1944) because Georgia Tech got players from the Navy Officers Training Program held on campus. Georgia vs Georgia Tech is one of the nation’s oldest games.
The winner of this game has received the Governor’s Cup Trophy since 1995. The Bulldogs have come out victorious in the last ten games. The game was skipped last year due to the pandemic, and the SEC was competing only within their league.
In 1999, Georgia Tech won in overtime 51-48, in Atlanta. Both teams combined for 1,102 total offensive yards.
The historic rivalry should be a hard-fought battle. Regardless of the stats, records, and the score, both teams will be ready to play. Georgia should come out of the fight victorious, with a perfect regular season record. The Bulldogs should be able to play backups this weekend.
