Former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix announced that he would be transferring to Oregon on Sunday. Nix will reunite with Kenny Dillingham, Auburn’s quaterback coach, and offensive coordinator Nix’s freshman year. Dillingham departed for Florida State in 2020, and Nix could never improve upon the numbers he put together as a freshman.

Nix threw for 2,294 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions this season. He also rushed for 168 yards and four rushing touchdowns. Nix played just ten games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.

Nix played against now Oregon head coach when Dan Lanning when he was Defensive Coordinator for Georgia. The quarterback passed for 217 yards on 21-of-38 passing, with one interception. Auburn lost the game 38-10.

When Nix was a freshman in 2019, he passed for 2,542, threw 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. Nix rushed for 313 yards and seven touchdowns. Auburn went 9-4 that season and won the Iron Bowl against Alabama. Nix won SEC Freshman of the Year, and many people thought the sky was the limit, but Nix has been mediocre since then.

In three years at Auburn, Nix played for two head coaches, Gus Malzahn and Bryan Harsin. Nix also played under three offensive coordinators, Dillingham, Chad Morris, and Mike Bobo. In 34 starts at Auburn, Nix passed for 7 251 yards, with 39 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, and rushed for 869 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The quarterback will join Ty Thompson, Jay Butterfield, and Robby Ashford; they are all freshmen in terms of eligibility. It will be a competitive quarterback competition. Nix is like Oregon’s quarterback this past season Anthony Brown; he will impress you with his play-making ability but then will make a horrible decision in the passing game. Nix has been up and down as quarterback, and if he can stay on the upside, he could help Oregon win a lot of games next year.
