The Pittsburgh Steelers have added three players to their COVID list today. The Steelers COVID List Update includes Offensive Tackle Zach Banner, Linebacker Marcus Allen, and Linebacker Devin Bush.

Bush is the most notable name on this list as the only starter on the offense or defense. Allen however, also plays a pivotal role on the team as a core special teams player, and the up back on the punt team.

Banner has been the expected Day 1 starting right tackle going into the last two seasons, but a knee injury has held him out for all but one game in the last year and a half. He has played a few “Tackle Eligible” snaps in the last few weeks.

Previous Steelers COVID List Updates

The three players join new Nose Tackle Montravious Adams on the Reserve COVID-19 List. Adams was added to the list last Wednesday, December 15th and missed the game against the Tennessee Titans. Depending on his vaccination status and recent test results Adams could be back for the game this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Outlook for Sunday

It’s still early in the week. With the new NFL protocols there is a chance all of these players could suit up. Should they not it would already add to a game of musical chairs the offensive line has dealt with this season. Guard/Center J.C. Hassenauer was designated to come off of IR last week, and starting guard Kevin Dotson received the same designation today. This means practice squad call-up John Leglue could be moved from the starting left guard to a reserve tackle role for the game this week.

If Bush and Allen were both to miss this game we would see an increased role for Robert Spillane. Spillane received rotational work last week, and has been in a lot of dime packages for the team this year. Rookie Buddy Johnson, who is on the roster but normally inactive, could receive a helmet as well.

The Chiefs are dealing with their own COVID issues with a number of key players being on the list as of today. This list includes starters Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Charvarius Ward, and Nick Bolton. Kicker Harrison Butker has already been ruled out due to not being vaccinated. The game is still slated for Sunday, December
