Lakers losing streak now becomes four after home loss against the Spurs, 138-110. LeBron led the Lakers like usual with 36 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. While the Spurs leading scorer was Keita Bates-Diop with 30 points, who shoot 100% from the field, and Diop got seven rebounds.

Game Recap

For the fourth time this season, when LeBron has scored more than 30 points, the Lakers lose. During this fourth game losing streak, LeBron has averages of 30 points, ten rebounds, five rebounds, and shooting 56% from the field.

But the story of the night was where the help for Westbrook and James? James and Westbrook combined for 66 points out of the 110 points. The only other player to hit double-digits was Talen Horton-Tucker with 13 points. Another significant stat to know for the Lakers’ loss is shooting a terrible 18.2% from the three-point line. In contrast, the Spurs shot 46.2% from the three-point line.

Unexpected Leader For Spurs In Win

Nobody expected the leading scorer tonight for the Spurs would be Keita Bates-Diop. Even after the first quarter, Diop had one point in the first quarter but scored at least nine points in the next three quarters. That includes a 20-point 2nd half performance to close out against the Lakers.

Five other players joined Diop in double-digit points, including Derrick White with 23 points, Doug McDermott with 13 points, Keldon Johnson with 16 points, Lonnie Walker IV with 21 points, and Jock Landale with 13 points. The Spurs bench outscored the Lakers bench 69-20.

Lakers Fourth Quarter Collapse

The Lakers and Spurs played a pretty even third quarter, with the Spurs getting 39 points. While the Lakers scored 37 points, you can tell James and Westbrook were getting tired after scoring 27 points of the teams’ 37 points in the third quarter.

That led to the Spurs starting the fourth quarter with a 21-12 run in the first six minutes. The Lakers flew the white flag after a Derrick White floater put the lead at 18. LeBron and Isaiah Thomas exited the game, and the Spurs built their lead to 28 points to get a 138-110 against the Lakers. Overall, the Spurs won the quarter 33-18. The Lakers shot 0% from the three-point line in the fourth quarter and shot 34.8% from the field.

Lakers Need to Figure Out Answers Soon

Other than James and Westbrook, everybody needs to play their role. Something must change for the Lakers. This Lakers squad did not look good tonight against the Spurs, who are fighting to get back .500. The good news is that it’s only December and not April. But the Lakers have the veteran leadership to figure out solutions. One of the solutions includes getting healthier, and with players clearing the NBA’s protocols soon, expect more wins in the coming weeks.

Spurs Sweep LA Teams

At the beginning of December, the Spurs’ record was 6-13, but now they have entered the playoff picture as currently the 10th seed in the Western Conference. After Sunday, San Antonio will have some challenging games, including Utah against Miami and Memphis. Great news that the only player on the injury report has an injury and is not in the NBA’s safety and health protocols.
