Wizards take control of the lead

Chicago started very slow tonight, and it also wasn’t helping shooting not good in the first half. Washington took the lead back with an Anthony Gill three-pointer, and the next time Chicago had the lead was in the fourth quarter. The Bulls allowed the Wizards to get hot and build their most significant lead of the night at 13 points in the second quarter. Chicago brought the lead within four points, but Washington responded and took a 12 point lead into halftime. Chicago shot 41.5% from the field, while Washington shot 56.8% in the first half.

The Bulls started the second half with a 10-2 run to bring the Wizards’ lead within four points. Later on, the lead got cut to three points, yet Washington responded repeatedly. But the Bulls playing their second game in two days, got the lead down to two points to finish the third quarter at 88-86.

Chicago takes lead late

In the second and third quarters, Washington had responses and started the fourth quarter with a 12-4 run at 8:14 mark. A Nikola Vucevic hook shot made the Wizards’ lead go down to two points three minutes later. Four combined free throws later, the lead was now three points and heading towards another excellent finish.

Great final Three minutes

DeMar DeRozan’s lay-up got the lead down to one point, but Washington went on a small 5-0 run to get the 112-107 lead. A Zach LaVine three-pointer and Nikola Vucevic shot made the lead one point. Beal responded with a two-pointer, but LaVine gave the Bulls their first lead since the first quarter with a three-pointer.

Beal and DeRozan both free throws. With under 4 seconds left, Kyle Kuzma made a three-pointer to get a two-point later. But DeRozan responded with a game-winner three-pointer. That was DeRozan’s first three-pointer of the night.

Final Thoughts

Bulls extend winning to seven

Chicago has played five games within the last seven days and won all five games. Coby White has stepped up big time since Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball have been out. The bench mob is back in Chicago when everybody is healthy and not in the NBA protocols. They will have a day off before taking on Vucevic’s former team of the Orlando Magic on Monday.

Wizards fall back to .500

Washington played a great game tonight, especially without Spencer Dinwiddle and Montrezl Harrell. They will look for revenge against the Bulls next Friday in Chicago. Daniel Gafford played well in place of Harrell with 19 points in 20 minutes.

Up next

Chicago will host Orlando on Monday.

Washington will host Charlotte on Monday.
