Clippers vs. Grizzlies Recap

Clippers fall to the Memphis Grizzlies 123-108. Lack of size is starting to show as Tyronn Lue opts for a small five on the court. Ivaca Zubac did play in tonights game but he is coming off the covid list and did not see a lot of minutes. When Clippers have been going with the small lineup during the game their defensive rebounds are suffering. To many second point chances for the Grizzlies proved to be the losing blow. Marcus Morris Sr. had another great effort with 29 points. Off the bench Brandon Boston Jr. put up 13 points. Memphis Grizzlies played without Ja Morant and saw Dillion Brooks go down early to looked like a knee injury.

First Half

First quarter action started with the Clippers going 5/5 from the field with 15 early points as a team. Ivaca Zubac is back in the lineup after missing four games and established his presence early. Marcus Morris Sr. had himself a first quarter as well with 13 points and went 3-3 from behind the arc. Clippers showed an impressive first quarter with 6 three pointers in that opening frame with the score reflecting 36-28. Second quarter action showed the Grizzles taking over the lead mid way through. Grizzlies bench got some big points with 28 and leading the charge was Brandon Clarke with 10 points. Halftime score is 56-66 Grizzlies up.

The Clippers have another early game tomorrow tipping off at 12:30 at the center versus the Atlanta Hawks. Trae Young has his team at 17-21 as they look to get healthier moving forward. I anticipate to see Ivaca Zubac slowly increase his minutes as the Clippers are struggling with rebounding the ball. Zubac looks good coming off the covid list as it seems the virus didn’t take the physical toll it has on other athletes around the league.
