Sherman Homecoming On The Horizon?

Richard Sherman. The All-Pro cornerback from Stanford. The five-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion. His name’s in NFL history, no matter the accolade. Also, he’s known for his vibrant personality. He signed with the Bucs this offseason. This followed a tenure with the 49ers. He was ecstatic to sign with former adversary Tom Brady. Unfortunately, injuries derailed his 1-year contract. So, what’s next for Sherman? In this piece, I’ll talk about how a homecoming in Seattle would be great for both parties.

The Fans

Moving on, the fanbase in Seattle is what buoyed the loud crowds. They are the “12th Man.” I’m sure they’d welcome back such a loud, lively and boisterous presence to their field. After all, Sherman was drafted by and spent the majority of his career with the Seahawks. Seeing him in the green and blue patrolling the field would be a blast to the past. He’d match their energy and give it back to them, with that being just the kind of guy he is.

Schematic Fit

Next, Coach Pete Carroll is old school. He and Dan Quinn (formerly) schemed up the most head-scratching and optimum defenses over a solid three to five-year span. If he returned to Seattle, he’d more than likely return to the role he played, with the comeback of box safety Jamal Adams just around the bend. Furthermore, Quandre Diggs is another bright spot in the defense.

Sherman Is A Staple

Come on. Moreover, did we really believe this wouldn’t be here? A guy named ”The Shermanator” is definitely a voice in your locker room. Gone are the halcyon days where the ”Legion of Boom” played sideline to sideline and punished opposing offenses. Chancellor retired before his body gave up. Earl Thomas left because he felt a tad bit slighted. Neither of these were the case for #25. He just got a bit long in the tooth. He’d be a great mentor and bridge corner for the next to step in to fill his shoes. In that instance, they’d have to really perform to get his stamp of approval, too. When he decides to hang up the cleats, I believe the NFL will be right again if he does it as a Seahawk.
