The Michael Gallup Factor.

#13 Goes Down.

It was a tough outing for the Dallas Cowboys. The Arizona Cardinals had their number, too. For a good amount of the game, Arizona strapped Prescott and Co. down by a score of 22-7. Aside from the lone score in the second quarter, the offense looked lifeless and flat. But, who was the jump start for the score? WR No. #3, Michael Gallup. He clutched his leg after the 21-yard deep shot on the left side of the field that ended up in the end zone. Much to Dak Prescott’s chagrin, you could see the clear discomfort that the deep threat was in, doubled over.

What Happened?

Well, it’s a tough one. As an offensive minded person myself, I love all things explosive. Running, juking, catching, passing, and even blocking. But for Gallup, a Grade 3 ACL tear was the worst news he could get. I think it stings a tad bit more for him because he was working his way back into the lineup, but it was full steam ahead for him heading into the playoff push and a hot offense including himself and the other weapons at Dak’s disposal meant they’d be a tough out.

Michael Gallup’s Impact.

Furthermore, he will have a deceptively strong pull on the season’s outcome. The 25-year-old wideout had suffered a calf injury that sidelined him for 7 games in Week 1. MG13 didn’t get his feet wet until Week 10 in the beatdown of the Atlanta Falcons where he recorded 3 catches for 42 yards. Speaking of his catches and yards, his deep threat ability will be sorely missed. Though he was passed off as a WR3 (Amari and CeeDee present, who wouldn’t?) he could track and contest the ball like a WR1. His grabs of 20+ beats out both the previously mentioned in all three seasons he’s been with the team. He worked downfield more than both of them, as CeeDee loved intermediate and Cooper loved run after catch. Not to mention he would be used as a Y-receiver occassionally, beating double coverage and in previous playoff runs, corners like Jalen Ramsey.

Michael Gallup’s End All, Be All.

I personally would love to see MG13 resign with the Boys’. The football mind in me says that he definitely will. Dak and the others love him, and he has an infectious playmaking ability. After all, he has exploded for a touch over 1,100 yards and 6 touchdowns before. At 25 years of age, he’ll command a lot on the open market, as he’s a free agent following the season’s conclusion. It’s all up to him to rehab, and something says he’ll be back in the star with a big smile and a vengeance.
